Mr. Kiel and Delegate
Sossi met with the Council to hear and discuss traffic concerns relating
to Centreville:
-
Mr. Kiel reported that he had received statistics from a recent traffic
survey at Rt 18; pending analysis, he would report back to the Council in the
coming weeks;

Mr. Kiel had discussions with Conectiv regarding their entrance near
Rt 18;
-
The Council reviewed the Little Kidwell extension project and its
impact on traffic;
-
Mr. Kiel and the Council discussed the sign at the main entrance to the
Food Lion shopping area and its impact on traffic entering 213;
-
The current and potential crosswalks in Town were reviewed (Church
Alley, Arts Council, Lawyers Row at Commerce, etc.)
-
The MD State Police Enforcement operation was discussed and its
potential findings to be reported back to the Council;
-
The Council talked about the possibility of the State taking back
ownership, therefore, maintenance, of certain Town roads (
Chesterfield
, etc.)

Reducing the speed limit
on
Watson Road
from 30 to 25;
o
Weight limits on bridges
and their inspection requirements

Revising
Watson Road

Front Street
to one-way status

Mr. Dan Worth,
202 S Commerce St
– He discussed the following:
o
Extending the slower
speed limits past the
Northbrook
entrance to slow down the current 55mph
o
Allow parking on both
sides of
Commerce Street
near new entrance to Ridgeview townhomes
o
Crosswalks at
intersection of Water and Commerce are inconvenient
o
Truck restrictions on
213 to reduce traffic on failing bridges and reduce number of accidents with
heavy vehicles
o
Wideload vehicle
recently passed through on 213 vs 301
The Council thanked Delegate Sossi and Mr. Kiel for their time and
presentations. They noted that
they look forward to Mr. Kiel’s analysis of the recent traffic study at
Route 18; this information would be reviewed and used as discussion items,
along with others, at the Fall Meeting between MDOT, SHA and locally elected
officials.
